Special Edition - Reviewed!

Review By Ryan Renger

In a recording studio far, far away, Galactic Empire has put together their third studio album, Special Edition. A great album it is. The force is strong with Special Edition, and the musicality and overall technical skill that is on display, coupled with the nostalgia of Star Wars, is the perfect album for SciFi lovers and Metal listeners alike. The album opens with a distorted and headbanging version of the 20th Century Fox theme. The theme that starts many of the greatest movies is the perfect opening for this amazing album. Up next on the track listing is back-to-back home runs of Star Wars and The Revenge of the Sith and The Imperial Suite, arguably two of the most popular musical masterpieces to come from the Star Wars franchise. The scorching guitar work adds so many wonderful elements to these already well-written songs. Continuing on with the album, songs like The Mandalorian, Bad Batch Theme, and The Battle of Hoth, make appearances, with the signature Galactic Empire sound injecting itself into them. The album ends fittingly on Victory Celebration, which wraps everything up perfectly! It seems that John Williams could

have used Galactic Empire when writing these songs originally. The blending of these popular themes with the downturned guitars and thumbing double bass make this a fantastic release. It is very fitting that Special Edition was released on May 3rd, the day before the Star Wars holiday, May the 4th. In honor of the holiday and album release, Galactic Empire will be live on Twitch, playing through their songs. As well they will be playing a release show in Pennsylvania on the 5th, with a special encore performance by DMC's Darryl McDaniels. Go check the album out, which is released on all major platforms now. As well, go check the band out in person, in a show near you!
